Listening Session on Mental Health/Gun Violence on June 30

BUMC’s mission on Gun Violence Prevention, led by Rev. Susan Bender, is a nationally regarded ministry that we take seriously. This year, we will focus on gun violence related to mental health. In 2024, there have been 81 gun-related suicides in Maryland so far. This data highlights the ongoing challenge of addressing mental health and preventing firearm suicides within the state. Our presenter for Sunday is Aaron Fenster, who serves as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Housing Unlimited, located in Montgomery County, MD. Housing Unlimited is dedicated to providing affordable housing solutions for individuals with psychiatric disabilities, and Aaron’s leadership plays a crucial role in advancing this mission. With a strong background in nonprofit management and a commitment to community service, Aaron brings extensive experience and passion to his work. He is known for his strategic vision, operational expertise, and dedication to improving the quality of life for the residents of Montgomery County. His efforts contribute significantly to the organization’s success in creating stable, supportive housing environments that enable individuals to live independently and thrive. We encourage your participation in the Fellowship Hall after the service at 11:15 a.m.
